Al Di Meola's career as a pioneering guitar guru is widely celebrated around the world. As a master of electric and acoustic guitar, he fuses elements of jazz, flamenco, Middle Eastern, Brazilian, tango and African into one rich and complex exploration of sound. He's sold more than six million records worldwide, with three of his albums going gold. A man of many collaborative projects, Di Meola has worked with artists such as Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Les Paul.
His current project is New World Sinfonia, which has just released a new album, Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody. With the ensemble, Di Meola courses through the same breadth of styles that have defined his career and even throws in covers of The Beatles and the classic tune "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Hear Di Meola talk about his newest project and play a Morocco-inspired song titled "Mawazine Part 1 & 2."
