Windows damaged at Rep. Gene Green's office (Politico)

The Houston Police Department said damage to a window at Rep. Gene Green?s office appears to be criminal mischief, not gun shots.

The Houston Chronicle reported that there were shots fired near the 17-year Democratic veteran?s office, but Victor Senties, a police department spokesman, said that nobody reported shots fired and an officer on the scene thinks it could be the product of a pellet gun or BB gun. There was just one window damaged, Senties said.

A spokesman for the Capitol Police department did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment, and a spokesperson for Green was not available. The Chronicle reported that no one was injured.

Security for members of Congress has been under the microscope since earlier this year, when Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in a parking lot of a supermarket in Tucson, Ariz.

?USCP is aware of the incident and is currently working with other law enforcement agencies,? said Sgt. Kim Schneider of the Capitol Police.
