Central Alabama opens hearts and homes to pets from Isaac hit ...

Christi Little from the Greater?Birmingham Humane Society.

Birmingham - The Greater Birmingham Humane Society reports it brought 24 animals from a Gulf Coast Humane Society. Most of the animals have been adopted. Only five remain.?

The animals were brought to Birmingham from Mississippi after Hurricane Isaac hit the coast hard.?

A partnership between the two?shelters allowed Birmingham Humane Society officials to retrieve animals from the Mississippi facility. Their effort freed up space so additional animals could be rescued from the storms path.?

The majority of the pets were canines of all ages.?

To adopt a pet, you must show up during normal business hours, fill out a short application form,?and meet with an adoption counselor.

Hilary Golston has the story.
